We're inviting you to celebrate our wedding
For our special day, we have a few recommendations.
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to accommodate any additional guests, other than those named upon your invitation.
The dress code for our wedding is cocktail attire. For women, this can be elegant dresses, and for men, a suit and tie would be perfect. We ask that you avoid the colours of white, as it is traditionally reserved for the bride, and red, as it is considered bad luck. Soft pastel colours are welcomed to compliment our colour theme.
We kindly ask that you wait until after the ceremony has concluded to take photos or videos. We will have a hired photographer present on the day who will make sure all the angles are captured! After the official ceremony has concluded, free feel to take as many photos and videos are you like, of course sharing them with us after the event!
Our planned venue is the Neuburg Castle in Neuburg an der Kammel.
In 1562, Erhart von Vöhlin, an art-loving Swabian nobleman, gave Neuburg Castle as a wedding present to his son and daughter-in-law. The castle, first mentioned in documents in 1180, was largely rebuilt in its current form in the Renaissance style around 1565.
Neuburg Castle houses its own hotel, for which we strongly encourage our guests to take full advantage of. The morning after the wedding, an additional breakfast will be available to those who stay overnight.
You can reach the venue, via Autobahns A8: exit Günzburg, A7: exit Illertissen, A96: exit Mindelheim, and then via well-developed federal or country roads. Address: Schloßweg 1, 86476 Neuburg an der Kammel
Stuttgart and Munich airports are about 130 km away. Allgäu Airport (Memmingen) is about 60 km away.
The next larger cities Ulm, Augsburg and Memmingen are about 40 to 60 km away.
For those planning on attending from the United Kingdom, or further afield, we offer some recommendations for your trip.
Our main recommendation would be to make the most of the trip, come for some extra days and see what history and sights that Bavaria has to offer! We would recommend flying to Munich International Airport and renting a car, staying in Augsburg and taking day trips to see some of the many tourist sights!
Our planned venue is not nearby any large cities. Instead it is out in the country side without much infrastructure surrounding the castle. We primarily recommend that guests make use of rental cars, come and stay overnight at the venue on the night of the wedding and stay mainly in one of the larger surrounding cities.
Neuburg Castle houses its own hotel, for which we strongly encourage our guests to take full advantage of. The morning after the wedding, an additional breakfast will be available to those who stay overnight. Rooms costs range depending upon the number of guests, but generally cost €108 for a single room, €154 for a double room, €219 for a triple room. Breakfast is charged additionally at €19.50 per person.
Using the RSVP form, select the number of rooms you are interested in having and one of us will be in contact with you about your selection.
While trains are efficient in Germany, they can be unreliable at times. Generally speaking, between Munich-Augsburg-Ulm-Stuttgart, they are very good, but we do not recommend trying to use them to access our wedding venue, due to the rural-ness of the line. Inner city transport, trams and buses, are highly reliable and cheap.
We would highly recommend that you rent a car for your trip; at least for the day of the wedding.
Likely, the easiest option would be a flight from London Heathrow airport to Munich International Airport. Flights to Munich are generally operated by British Airways, Lufthansa and EasyJet. Additionally you can fly to Stuttgart Airport, however generally this is more expensive. Ryanair also operate flights between London Stansted Airport and Memmingen Airport.
While the journey is quite long (15 hours), it is possible to drive. Consider that you'll need to check your insurance policy and any additional requirements (yellow jackets and first aid kit), but it is possible to do it. I would highly recommend to either make a stop somewhere half-way or if you plan a non-stop trip to utilise the EuroTunnel.
We both live in Augsburg, so this is our recommendation. It has plenty of things to do and see! Additionally, the Bavarian capital is Munich and reachable by train or rental car within an hour. Ulm is also very close to the venue and is of the same relative size as Augsburg. Memmingen may also be an option in case you are flying with Ryanair.
Bavaria has a rich history and culture, and no matter how far or wide you go, you will find plenty of things to see and do! Of course, do not take my word for it, below you will find just some of the recommendations we have for what there is to see and do in Augsburg city region as well as further out in Bavaria.
All of these are reachable in Augsburg with Public Transport.
Reachable with either public transport or a rental car.
